Cutera® Excel V™ is a laser system that is used to treat a wide range of benign vascular and benign pigmented lesions on the face and body. This laser treatment can provide improvement for a variety of chronic and acute conditions, including:

how it works
The Cutera® Excel V™ laser system is a non-invasive treatment that is capable of treating over 20 unique indications affecting all skin types.
The Cutera laser features a combination of dual wavelengths (532 nm KTP and 1064 nm Nd: YAG), for targeting both superficial and deeper indications. The intended target absorbs the heat energy emitted from the laser and is thus damaged or destroyed.

what to expect
Vascular Conditions: A cooling and protective layer of gel is applied to the surface of the skin. The laser is pulsed over the intended target, producing a sensation like that of a light to mild stinging. The Excel V’s handpiece is outfitted with a cooling sapphire contact window to provide comfort to the patient for the duration of the treatment. The intended target may disappear completely or slightly darken. The damaged target can take up to 6 weeks for the body to eliminate it; leg veins may take longer. After the treatment, the protective gel is removed, and a soothing gel will be applied to the skin as well as ice packs to help alleviate any redness, swelling, or discomfort.
Pigmentary Concerns: The laser will emit a pulse of energy over the intended target and a sensation of a rubber band snapping is the sensation often experienced. The intended target darkens and may also be accompanied by redness and/or swelling. Within 1-2 weeks the darkened area will exfoliate off the surface of the skin revealing a more even tone.
1-3 treatments are recommended for 70% or more improvement. 2-3 treatments are recommended for leg veins for 70% or more improvement. Downtime is approximately 24-72 hours with side effects of redness, swelling and that of a “sunburn” sensation within the skin. *Please be advised prolonged cosmetic downtime is to be expected with global half or full face treatments.
